We love piercing! We are passionate about placement, jewellery and having you love your new piece. A big part of that passion goes into training. Our piercers are dedicated to honing and refining their skill set.
All of our piercers have internationally recognized training through the Fakir Intensives. Fakir Intensives is one of the longest running body piercing school in the world and offers certificates in Basic, Comprehensive, and Advanced Body Piercing. www.fakir.org
The Association of Professional Piercers offers industry related seminars and workshops at their annual conferences.
Our piercers at Instinct also hold up to date First Aid, CPR, WHO Covid 19, and Bloodborn Pathogen training certificates
The Association of Professional Piercers (APP) is an international health and safety organization. It is a nonprofit voluntary alliance dedicated to the dissemination of information about body piercing. Governed by a voluntary elected Board of Directors, the APP is a united group of piercing professionals that freely shares information to help fellow members, piercers, health care professionals, legislators, health inspectors, and the general public get the best and most up to date information about body piercing.
There is not a "certification" program in British Columbia, or even Canada, for body piercing.
To be a "professional" only means that this is how we make our livings.
Instinct Adornment holds a valid business license showing that we meet or exceed the Interior Health Board requirements for a body piercing studio.
Our insurance providers require that we each hold a certain level of experience and work with specific materials using procedures that they deem "safest practice" within our industry.
To counter this lack of explicit certification we invest heavily in training.
Our piercers are up to date in fundamental and advanced techniques, health and safety, and meet criteria to be members of the Association of Professional Piercers.
We provide ongoing training opportunities and mentor-ship to our experienced piercers, as well as our newer members.

Jenna presented a class on "Kids Ear Piercing" at the APP's international conference in 2022, and "Grounding and Bedside Manner" in 2023, as well as presenting workshops on mindfulness at both the 2023, 2022 conference and camp in 2017.
She is known for her skill and dexterity as much as for her dedication to beautiful, quality piercings and jewellery. (Also known for being a bit less stoic, Jenna treats all of our studio's clients as she would want to be treated- that includes seeing the test strip that runs in the autoclave before a procedure, juice boxes, sterile cold compresses, stickers for bravery and treats.)
Jenna is a proud member of the Association of Professional Piercers and is dedicated to continuing to learn and develop her knowledge.
